For the past 6 years, my family and I have been very happy to call Cedar Mountain, NC home. My wife and I moved from Oxford, Ohio to Missoula, Montana after graduating college. When we had our firstborn, our new family made the difficult decision to leave the mountains of Montana and move back to southwestern Ohio to be closer to family and friends. After 6 years in Ohio, our now family of 4 decided to move back to the mountains. We focused our search for a new home on the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. We made it our priority to pursue the outdoor lifestyle that accompanies small-town mountain living. As part of our search for a new hometown, we visited Brevard in the fall of 2014 during its annual Halloweenfest. We immediately fell in love with everything this small town has to offer. The proximity to endless outdoor activities, the friendly smiling people that you interact with on a daily basis, and a community that supports education and the arts, Brevard is an ideal place to raise a family. Combine the aforementioned attributes with a place that prioritizes conserving that “small town” feel and it was easy to make the move and now call Transylvania County home.
Professionally, I have worn a lot of hats. I held several jobs throughout college including but not limited to bartender/waiter, shipping and receiving clerk at our collegiate bookstore, and general laborer with a contractor building new housing. Upon our return to Ohio from Montana, I secured a position as service manager of an auto dealership in our small college town. Several years later, the opportunity to buy the dealership arose. I saw the potential for future growth, in both the sales and service departments. After careful consideration, I purchased the dealership from a large dealer group. After three years of growth and expansion, my wife and I decided to move back to the mountains to enable our family to pursue the outdoor lifestyle we both missed. We made the tough decision to sell the dealership. During our time in Ohio, I found that even though I was working in the automotive industry, I was interested in researching and investing in real estate. My wife and I have enjoyed renovating several houses. That hobby became a profession when I acquired a North Carolina real estate brokers license.
