Amee Houghland, although well-traveled with a history of being somewhat transient, has planted roots here in Western North Carolina and cannot imagine calling anywhere else home. Amee is especially passionate about all things outdoors, design, and using her skills, knowledge, and attributes to help others. "Amee found us our mountain dream home! We had a long list of requirements and weren't even sure what we wanted existed. We wanted land to roam, lots of privacy, quiet nature, running natural water, space and sun for a garden, old growth trees, a high elevation, as well as a big enough house for our family of 4, all while being close to town, school and amenities and staying within our budget. We were living in Chapel Hill when I first reached out to Amee via a text. She was very responsive with a phone call and for several months Amee sent us listings to review, all thoughtfully picked out with our requested specifications. She worked with us weekly, updating us with new homes. She spent a lot of time reading our feedback, and then sending us the best listings to view. When we finally visited Amee in person, she had scouted out a home that she saw having great potential and arranged a viewing. It was a listing that I never would have thought to check out if I were looking myself on Zillow, but Amee could see the potential and encouraged us to take a look. When we drove up and saw the waterfall next to the house, and turned around and saw the long-distance view of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a home surrounded by gardens and birch trees and giant rock formations, we knew we were home! "I worked with Amee on the purchase of a few acres of forest land, which was a dream come true for me, and Amee helped me bring the vision to life! When I first reached out to her, I was hesitant to share my interest in developing a nature preserve because I was afraid I would only be taken seriously if I were planning to build or develop the land. Amee is also a nature lover so she understood immediately! The land was quite overgrown and Amee forged a trail where none existed, taking the brunt of the spider webs and brambles, all to make sure we were able to see as much of the property as possible, which was definitely above and beyond! When we reached the back of the property and saw the views, we knew it was well worth it. Amee has also connected me with several wonderful service providers who can help me learn about the property.
