40th Fall Harvest Day Antique Engine & Tractor Show – October 10th -11th

Join us for the 40th Fall Harvest Days Antique Engine & Tractor show on October 10 and 11 at the WNC Agriculture Center in Fletcher, NC, rain or shine. The show will include all brands of antique tractors, Hit n’ Miss engines, crafts, toys, parts, tools, collectibles, food and apples! On Saturday, bring the kids to the Kids’ Zone where they can jump in bounce houses, play games and enjoy some crafts. And don’t miss the tractor pull on Saturday at 10am!
Autumn Rails 2025 Train Show – October 10th – 11th

Join us on Friday and Saturday, October 10 and 11 for the Autumn Rails 2025 train show. See all scales model trains. There will be vendors, layouts, a kids’ play zone and chances to win door prizes! The show is Friday, October 10 from 12pm to 6pm and Saturday, October 11, 10am to 4pm, at the WNC Ag Center, Expo Building. Tickets are $8 for adults, children under 12 are free with an adult and scouts in uniform are free. Lots of free parking available!
Flat Rock Playhouse Presents: Autumn at the Opry Vol. 2 – Through October 26th

Grab your guitars and dust off your cowboy boots before heading out to the Playhouse Barn for Autumn at the Opry, Vol. 2. This popular country extravaganza is back with all new music and showcases everything from bluegrass to honky-tonk, tin pan alley to pop standards, and the blues to rock-n-roll. Join our world-class musicians and singers in this ode to The Grand Ole Opry. We guarantee a hand-clappin,’ foot-stompin’ good time.
Pumpkin Fest – October 10th

Pumpkin Fest is a fun, family friendly and fantastic artistic event or great date night with 18 beautiful artist-designed lighted carved pumpkin displays on a newly-paved short walking trail. The event includes talented local musicians, food trucks and coffee house, games, storytelling, face painting, white squirrel scavenger hunt, games, dress ups, and the Silvermont historic mansion and second floor museum open for tours.
There will be lots of activities for young and old alike! For kids, we have the dress up and face painting areas near the tennis court play area, the White Squirrel search, coloring and chalk drawing. For adults, we have music groups every night, food trucks, with the historic mansion first floor open with exhibits, and second floor museum free group tours.
Pumpkin Fest is a fundraiser for Friends of Silvermont to help maintain and improve the Silvermont Park and the 106-year-old historic mansion, which houses the county senior center and a history museum.
The Haunted Farm – Through November 1st

The Haunted Farm is Western North Carolina’s Scariest Attraction, and has been Voted Best Haunted House in NC! Falling For Llamas at Ellaberry Llama Farm – Varying dates in October

Join us at Ellaberry Llama Farm for our first-annual Falling For Llamas event. This will be a unique opportunity to purchase your pumpkins for the season, play with crias (baby llamas), tour our entire farm on a tractor ride, get fall-themed family photos with llamas, and so much more! This event will take place on 4 different days throughout October.
Henderson County Tailgate Market – Saturdays through Fall

Join us every Saturday, 8am to 12pm for the Henderson County Tailgate Market. We have local, organic and conventional produce, bedding plants, flowers, herbs, baked goods, canned goods for purchase.
We are located at 100 North King Street in Hendersonville in the Henderson County Building parking area (between First and Second Avenue).
Oklawaha Oktoberfest – October 11th

On Saturday, 1st Avenue East transforms into a lively block party from 1–5 PM with live music by Hustle Souls, an art market hosted by Blue Ridge Artisan Markets, and food from Blunt Pretzels, Wagu Burgers, and K’s Pizza Pop Up. Guests can enjoy Hammerschloggin in the street throughout the afternoon, along with a men’s and women’s stein hoisting contest emceed by Chris Power and bib pickup for the Black Bear Half Marathon. The celebration continues at 8 PM with an afterparty in the taproom, featuring music from Trancend until 11 PM. A beer tent with special Oktoberfest brews, along with the taproom’s full drink menu, ensures plenty of options for all. It’s a full day of food, beer, music, art, and community in downtown Hendersonville.
Black Bear 1/2 Marathon & 8k – October 12th

The Black Bear Half Marathon & 8k presented by Hunter Subaru is an exhilarating fall event that beckons both seasoned athletes and recreational runners alike. Nestled within the charm and beauty of Hendersonville, North Carolina, this race offers participants a unique opportunity to challenge their limits while immersing themselves in the splendor of the autumn season. Whether conquering the half marathon’s 13.1-mile stretch or embracing the spirited atmosphere of the 8k, participants love supportive community vibe, scenic course, and post-race festivities.
The race takes participants on a scenic journey through the heart of Hendersonville. They will experience a mix of scenic vistas, forested trails, and rolling hills, making it a truly immersive and rewarding running experience. Both courses start and end in Jackson Park and follow paved roads and forested greenways. There will be 2 water stations providing Gatorade, water, energy gels and Jambars. With less than 400 feet of elevation gain, each course is relatively flat.
Rhythm n Brews Concert Series – October 16th

This concerts series brings together live music, a variety of food trucks, and locally crafted beer, wine and cider! These free concerts close part of South Main Street to make room for all the fun, as well as a children’s area with games and activities. Tickets and wristbands, for the purchase of beer, wine and hard cider, will be located at the Downtown Hendersonville tent.
Tree Tops Trail Race – October 18th
Join on October 18 at 9am for the Tree Tops Trail Race at DuPont State Recreational Forest benefiting Friends of DuPont Forest. This race throws 8.5 miles of rugged DuPont State Forest at you — and you’re gonna love it. It’s challenging, it’s wild, and it’s absolutely worth every gritty step. Think sharp climbs, fast drops, and singletrack that demands your focus. No crowds. No concrete. Just you, the trail, and a shot at something real. New to trails? Perfect. Already a trail junkie? Even better. Bonus: it all supports Friends of DuPont Forest, so you’re running for more than just yourself.
The course offers a unique opportunity to elevate your fitness among the rolling hills and towering trees that make up this beautiful forest. The 8.5-mile course is a trail runners dream. With nearly 1,000 feet of elevation gain, it’s a challenging endurance route taking you through the most beautiful parts of the forest. The course will have 2 water stations.

2025 DuPont Forest Festival – October 18th

On Saturday October 18, 2025, Friends of DuPont Forest will host the 8th annual DuPont Forest Festival, an event celebrating the adventure and beauty of DuPont State Recreational Forest. Join us from 10am to 3pm at the Guion Access Area for this free event.
The DuPont Forest Festival is a free, family friendly event open to the public. It is hosted by Friends of DuPont Forest and sponsored by Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks and Cognative MTB.
The DuPont Forest Festival is a celebration of all the adventure and history found in DuPont State Forest. We’ll have a mix of drop-in activities, demonstrations, group tours, and hikes, all perfect for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Our number one goal for the Forest Festival is to teach people to love the Forest. Along with having fun, the activities will weave in education about reducing impacts to the Forest, waterfall safety, trails that serve multiple types of recreationalists and Forest conservation. Each event will be led by an expert volunteer and representative from our partner organizations.
Historic Johnson Farm Fun Day – October 18th

Historic Johnson Farm will be hosting a Farm Fun Day on Saturday, October 18 from 1-5 PM. This family-friendly event will entertain people of all ages.
Admission to the event is $5 per person for ages 4 and up. Children 3 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door; cash and card accepted.
Everything during the event is included in admission. Children can make a number of crafts with the Heritage Weavers & Fiber Artists and participate in a farm-wide scavenger hunt. All visitors can go on a wagon ride and take a self-guided tour of the historic farm house. Champions for Wildlife will be on site to lead an activity and talk about their organization. Every visitor can get a bag of popcorn and a drink with their admission. At 2 PM, the farm will host the official ribbon cutting for the grand reopening of the Barn Loft Museum that Vernon and Leander Johnson created in the 1970s. Farm volunteers have been working for months to clean, polish, and reorganize the hundreds of artifacts in the loft and are eager for the public to see it.
Parking for the event will be available across the street at Rugby Middle School, and volunteers from the Sheriff’s Office will help visitors cross the street. Handicapped parking is available at the farm. Please leave pets at home.

Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair – October 24 – 26

Join for 3 days of fun for the entire family! Hours are 9 to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday. 9 to 4 pm on Sunday at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, NC. See spinning, knitting, weaving, felting and much more! Join a workshop class to improve your skills or just enjoy browsing and shopping the beautiful and unique apparel and wearables. There will be sheep shearing demonstrations (Saturday only) and watch amazing border collies herd sheep (Sunday only). Fun for the whole family!
