NC Mountain State Fair – September 5th-14th

The third largest fair in North Carolina, this event celebrates the heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountains, including agriculture, music, crafts, art, food, entertainment, display of livestock, competitions, & midway amusement rides.

Celebrate Art Exhibit @ Art Place Gallery – Through September 30th

The Art League of Henderson County is excited to present our September exhibition Celebrate Art!

Join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, September 5th, 4–7 PM at Art Place Gallery. This juried showcase will feature incredible regional artists from NC, SC, GA, TN, and VA, highlighting a wide range of media and talent.

Little Bellas Brevard Weekly Program – Tuesdays through September

The Brevard Weekly Program offers recurring, all-girl mountain bike riding sessions on Tuesday nights at the scenic DuPont State Recreational Forest – Guion Farm Access Area. The goal is simple: to get girls outside, exploring new trails, connecting with each other, and growing their love for mountain biking. This program is about adventure, skill-building, and fun, not competition.

Financial assistance is available if needed, and we also have equipment through our Gear Up Program!

Flat Rock Playhouse Presents: Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express – Through September 28th

Whodunit? Detective Poirot is determined to find out in Agatha Christie’s thrilling murder mystery. Passengers aboard the opulent Orient Express awake to frightful news: Overnight, the American business mogul among them was stabbed to death behind locked doors. Thankfully, debonair detective Hercule Poirot is on the train and on the case and suddenly every passenger becomes a suspect. Tensions rise as Poirot searches for the killer lurking in their midst and who just may strike again. All aboard for a suspenseful evening that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

2nd Annual Mountain Lion 5k & Cub Run – September 7th

When & Where:
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the heart of Hendersonville, NC.
Check-in opens at 3:00 PM, and the race kicks off at 4:00 PM from The Mountain Community School, 613 Glover Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792

Why Run (or Walk)?
This isn’t just any 5K, it’s a chance to get moving for a great cause. All proceeds help The Mountain Community School cover essential funding gaps, from facility maintenance and technology enhancements to enriching academic and extracurricular programs!

Registration Details:
Adults: $40 (includes a race-day T-shirt)
Students: $20 (also includes a T-shirt)
Prefer to register on race day? No problem – cash, check, and tap-to-pay are accepted at the event. Same day registration T-Shirts will be available as long as supplies last.

2025 Waverly Live – September 25th

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join us at the front porch from May through September for live Americana music along with great southern fare and cold beverages. Music is free to enjoy and we will also be selling Waverly Smoked BBQ and beverages to enrich the experience. 6pm-8pm. See you at the Porch!

Fall Plant Sale at Bullington Gardens – September 12th-13th

Bullington has long been known for growing unique and healthy plants. This year is no exception. The sale will feature an impressive selection of locally grown native plants, fall perennials, shrubs, trees, and cool-season annuals, all carefully chosen to thrive in our local climate.

100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly towards supporting the ongoing operation of Bullington Gardens, a beloved non-profit botanical garden that has been a cornerstone of the Hendersonville community for 36 years.

Hiking Henderson County: Camp Green Cove Hike – September 5th

Henderson County Parks and Recreation is offering guided hiking opportunities. Join as we safely explore, learn, and exercise! This is an inclusive program; however, the hikes will vary in difficulty. This is a FREE program, Registration Required.

Trailheads can be difficult to find. At 9am on the day of the community hike, participants will be asked to meet at: 708 S Grove Street Hendersonville, NC 28792

The group will then caravan to the trailhead! During the program we will discuss wildlife, hike etiquette and the use of mobile applications in remote settings. Please note that these programs are subject to weather. Call (828) 845-5780 the day of the hike if you are concerned the hike will be canceled.

Henderson County Tailgate Market – Saturdays through the Spring/Summer

Join us every Saturday, 8am to 12pm for the Henderson County Tailgate Market. We have local, organic and conventional produce, bedding plants, flowers, herbs, baked goods, canned goods for purchase.

We are located at 100 North King Street in Hendersonville in the Henderson County Building parking area (between First and Second Avenue).

Packa’s Oktoberfest – September 13th

Join us for our first Oktoberfest at Packa’s Place! We have fun activities for families, couples, and kiddos. Live music all day, 30 local makers and artists, Pumpkin Patch Grand-opening, Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt, Paint your own Pottery and Local food trucks and ice cream truck!

Asap’s Farm Tour 2025 – September 20th-21st

ASAP’s annual Farm Tour is a chance to experience how food is grown and raised through guided tours, demonstrations, and tastings. The Farm Tour showcases the diversity of working farms in Western North Carolina, including vegetables, livestock, vineyards, orchards, flowers, fiber, and more! This is a family-friendly event and a great outing for visitors of all ages, abilities, and interests. All are welcome.

Rhythm n Brews Concert Series – September 18th

This concerts series brings together live music, a variety of food trucks, and locally crafted beer, wine and cider! These free concerts close part of South Main Street to make room for all the fun, as well as a children’s area with games and activities. Tickets and wristbands, for the purchase of beer, wine and hard cider, will be located at the Downtown Hendersonville tent.

Hendersonville Theatre Presents New Works Reading – September 20th

Hendersonville Theatre (HT) is committed to exploring and developing original works for the American stage, from concept to full production. Our New Works Reading: Page to Stage series offers local playwrights a supportive platform where their scripts come to life through actors in script-in-hand readings. These readings are not only a chance for playwrights to hear their work aloud but also an opportunity for the public to engage in the creative process.

Fall Family Festival at Bill Moore Community Park – September 20th

Friends of Music and the Arts Presents Amber Joy Koeppen – Award Winning Harpist – September 21st

Amber Joy Koeppen brings her angelic harp playing to St. John in the Wilderness Sunday, September 21 at 4:00 p.m. for a free concert in the spacious Parish Hall at 1905 Greenville Highway across from the church in Flat Rock. Handicapped accessibility and free parking are available. Donations will be gratefully accepted for the Friends of Music and the Arts Series. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible has numerous references to harp music which has been said to have healing properties. One of the oldest musical instruments in the world, the harp originated in Mesopotamia more than 2,000 years ago. Classically trained, Amber Joy Koeppen mastered the modern harp more than 20 years ago, winning First Place in the Rosen-Schaffer Competition for Young and Emerging Artists.

43rd September Spectacular “Charming Chalcedony” – September 26th-28th

National Public Lands Day – September 27th

National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the nation’s largest single-day volunteer event for public lands. NPLD is also a “Fee-Free Day”—one of only five days a year when entrance fees are waived at national parks and other public lands. Because of this everyone can enjoy the Cradle of Forestry for FREE this day! Come explore our exhibit hall, film, gift shop and over 3 miles of paved hiking trails featuring seven historical buildings from the time of the first forestry school in America, the Biltmore Forest School.

Our film, First in Forestry plays every half hour. Come explore all the magic the Cradle of Forestry has to offer!

Walking Tour and Wine Tasting at Marked Tree Vineyard – Weekly Fridays-Sundays

Get your steps in with a guided walking tour and tasting! Enjoy a seasonal wine tasting as you stroll through the vines and get an exclusive sneak peek of the new production facility. Learn about the history of Marked Tree and how the vineyard transforms with the changing seasons. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and we’ll provide the open vistas! The tour lasts about 30-45 minutes, a perfect way to start your day! (Weather permitting.)
$45 per person and it comes with a seasonal tasting. Friday through Sunday at 12pm. Reservations required.

Art on Main – September 27th-28th

Get ready for the most exciting event of the year! The Art on Main Fine Art and Craft Show is back, and it’s celebrating its 66th year. Can you believe it? For over six decades, this event has been a highlight in the art community, drawing in art enthusiasts from all over.

Historic Downtown Hendersonville sets the stage for this extraordinary event, adding a touch of charm and nostalgia to the whole experience. As you stroll through the streets lined with quaint shops and historic buildings, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time. It’s the perfect backdrop for a celebration of art and creativity.

All mediums of fine art and fine craft will be represented.

FREE Learn With Series – Golf – September 27th – October 18th

Kenmure’s Pros invite you to join us at the club for 4 session series on the basics of golf, FOR FREE. On Saturdays starting Sept 27th – Oct 18th at 10:30 am our Pro’s will teach beginners how to use a putter, chipping wedge, irons, and driver to get the hole. Kenmure has the clubs, all you need to bring is comfortable athletic clothing and a good attitude for learning. Prizes are won at the end of each session. The Haunted Farm – September 27th – November 1st

The Haunted Farm is Western North Carolina’s Scariest Attraction and has been Voted Best Haunted House in NC! Mixed Media Magic: Autumn’s Artful Spell at Ecusta Market + Cafe – September 30th

Gather at golden hour at Ecusta Cafe + Market and dive into a relaxing atmosphere where we celebrate the changing of the seasons with art making.
