Located in a beautiful valley east of downtown, Haw Creek was named for the native Black Haw tree that grew in the rich soil of the valley and which can still be found today, flowering along isolated banks of the eponymous creek and its tributaries.
Founded as a farming community in the early 1800’s, Haw Creek has diligently preserved its rural character despite the many changes to the Asheville metropolitan area. This preservation can be attributed in large part to the efforts of residents themselves who maintain an activist presence in Asheville city council through The Haw Creek Community Association. Thanks to their advocacy, to live in Haw Creek is to step back in time to a more peaceful country life immersed in natural beauty - all while living within a 15 minute drive of area shopping, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and Downtown Asheville.
Homes for sale in Haw Creek come in a diverse range of sizes and prices. Buyers will find everything from single family ranches, townhomes, condos, to modern craftsman homes. The community boasts two excellent schools - Haw Creek Elementary and the Evergreen Charter School. The East Asheville Rec Club also provides tennis courts, a swim team, and a private swimming pool.
Tunnel Road borders the community on the south, which means residents enjoy convenient proximity to the thoroughfare’s many restaurants and retailers. Yet access to the community itself remains pleasantly limited: there are only two entrances into Haw Creek and its neighborhood roads do not lead to any other major destinations in Asheville, ensuring the streets remain quiet and free of through traffic. As a result, residents enjoy being an easy drive away from the city’s amenities while living their daily lives at a remove from the congestion of the more urban scene.
