The 23rd Annual Tulip Extravaganza – March 18th – April 30th

Spring is arriving in downtown Hendersonville, bringing with it a vibrant display of 8,000-10,000 tulips in full bloom along Main Street. The 23rd Annual Tulip Extravaganza, sponsored by Narnia Studios, celebrates the beauty of the season with a month of colorful shopping, dining, and special events from late March through April 30. Local businesses will welcome spring with tulip-themed window displays, seasonal specials, and sidewalk sales on April 11-12. Visitors are encouraged to stroll through downtown, enjoy the floral displays, and bring out-of-town guests to experience the charm of Hendersonville in bloom.

Cheesecake and Flight Pairing @ Bold Rock Mills River – Thursday, March 27th

5PM, Join at the taproom for a Cheesecake & Flight Pairing—an exciting combo of creamy cheesecakes and crisp ciders.

Stepp’s Farmer Lead Hillcrest Orchard Tour – Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through April 6th

Take a wagon ride around Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard with Farmer Mike and his wife Rita. Experience the farm in the off season up close and personal in a small group. The tour includes a guided ride and stops along the way. Participants will learn about farm practices specifically focusing winter and early spring. For all ages. Please ensure you have purchased an admission ticket for each person joining the tour.

Getting Started with Polymer Clay – Monday, March 31st

10AM-1PM at the Art Place Gallery Workshop. Join for a fun, beginner-friendly class in polymer clay techniques! No experience is needed, and all materials are provided. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of working with polymer clay, including conditioning, rolling, and shaping the clay. We’ll cover simple techniques like creating marbled designs, using cutters for shapes, and adding textures for unique finishes. You’ll also get to explore how to bake your creations to perfection and finish them. By the end, you’ll have a collection of beautiful, personalized pieces to take home! This amazing medium lends itself to not just jewelry components, but handmade buttons and findings for your fiber projects, elements to include in a mixed media piece, and more!

Rockin’ on the Rock with Highway 52 – Thursday, April 3rd

5PM, Enjoy live music at the Rockin’ on the Rock concert series. Hear musical offerings ranging from jazz to country, rockabilly, pop, rock and blues. Organized by the Friends of Laurel Park.

Disc Golf Flat Rock Spring Fundraiser – Saturday, April 5th

8AM-4:30PM, Join for a one day, two round Professional Disc Golf Association (PDGA) c-tier fundraiser in Flat Rock. There will be 1 round of 18 holes at Flat Rock Middle School and one round of 18 holes will be at East Flat Rock Park (you choose your course). Ten dollars from every entry fee will be donated to Flat Rock Middle School Disc Golf to encourage more student to get involved in disc golf and to add more course installations at local schools.

This is event is open to PDGA members and non-members (amateur). There will be lots of prizes and all amateur players will receive a $20 player pack voucher and we will payout the standard 45% of top finishers in each division.

Oakdale Cemetery African-American History Walk – Saturday, April 5th

Local historians Mary Jo Padgett and Ronnie Pepper are teaming up to lead walks focusing on the contribution of Black citizens buried in Oakdale to the history of Hendersonville. These free guided walks in Hendersonville’s Historic African-American section of Oakdale Cemetery will be on Saturday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. and on Sunday, April 6, at 2:30 p.m. The walks will focus on the historically Black section and the guides will share stories of African-American leaders and noteworthy citizens from slavery era through Jim Crow segregation times, with emphasis on teachers, nurses, veterans, and Buffalo Soldier heroes.

Meet in the Cemetery at the intersection of 7th Ave. E. and Prince St. to start the walk. Parking is possible along those streets and other lanes in the Cemetery.

Introduction to Writing Personal Poetry – Thursday, April 10th

10AM-12PM at the Art Place Gallery Classroom. Introduction to Writing Personal Poetry is proposed for future poets who fear the blank page more than they fear keeping their words bottled up. Starting with what poetry is, participants learn ways to express their feelings or describe experiences, so the readers of their poems share the poet’s mind. A poet gets to do this with only a metaphoric postcard, not a ten-page letter.

Flat Rock Playhouse Presents MJ: The Illusion: Re-Living the King of Pop – Thursday April 10th – Saturday March 12th

A one-of-a-kind music concert that will take you on a journey through the music, performances, and visuals of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Through this live performance experience, you’ll be immersed in the magic of Michael Jackson’s music, from his breakthrough album “Off the Wall” to his timeless hits like “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal” and of course “Billie Jean.” You’ll be transported back in time to the golden era of Michael Jackson, with a fully immersive experience that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

Hiking Henderson County – Wild Cat Rock Trail – Friday, April 11th

Henderson County Parks and Recreation is offering guided hiking opportunities. This month is Wild Cat Rock Trail! Join and we safely explore, learn, and exercise! This is an inclusive program; however, the hikes will vary in difficulty. This is a free program, Registration Required.

Trailheads can be difficult to find. At 9am on the day of the community hike, participants will be asked to meet at: 708 S Grove Street Hendersonville, NC 28792

The group will then caravan to the trailhead! During the program we will discuss wildlife, hike etiquette and the use of mobile applications in remote settings. Please note that these programs are subject to weather. Call (828) 845-5780 the day of the hike if you are concerned the hike will be canceled.

Important items that participants need to bring: Sunscreen, Closed Toed Shoes, Water, Snacks

The Firefly Trail Run – Saturday, April 12th

Come participate in the Firefly Trail at Wag Valley Farm (near DuPont State Recreational Forest) where you can run/walk/hike a 5k, or a timed 6 or 12 hour trail run. You will be in awe of the beauty of this course and venue. You’ll run a ~3 mile trail loop continuously for 6 or 12 hours passing by a spectacular waterfall, mountain creeks and a run through the vintage event barn every lap. Each loop boasts 400+ feet of elevation gain, it’s a good thing this course is so beautiful to distract you from the challenges of the ups and downs of this impressive single-track! Easter Egg Hunt @ Bill Moore Community Park – Saturday, April 12th

Join for a fun-filled Easter celebration at Bill Moore Community Park! The annual Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday, April 12th, offering an exciting day of egg hunting, laughter, and family-friendly activities.

Children will be grouped by age to ensure a fun and fair experience:
Ages 3 & Under – 12:00 PM Ages 4-5 – 12:20 PM Ages 6-7 – 12:40 PM Ages 8-9 – 1:00 PM Ages 10-11 – 1:20 PM

Vibrant Pasta Workshop – Saturday, April 12th

12PM-2PM We are excited to bring you a brand-new VIBRANT workshop in April! We will be making 6 different colorful doughs made with natural dye from the book Pasta, Pretty Please by Linda Miller Nicholson. Learn how to select natural ingredients to color dough, laminating skills, and an overwhelming amount of creativity. Mills River Park Earth Fest – Saturday, April 12th

The purpose of Mills River Park’s Earth Fest is to promote education for our community and raise awareness about the importance of protecting the planet and it’s natural resources. We hope to encourage action to preserve the environment. This is our first inaugural festival that will be filled with hands on learning activities with lots of fun for kids, including pictures with the Easter Bunny, a scavenger hunt with prizes, arts and crafts, and bounce houses! This event is free and for all ages.

If you’re looking for your next furry friend, Mountain Pet Rescue, a foster-based animal rescue, will be onsite with adoptable pups through their adoption program. Come hungry! Chick-fil-a and Brightsides Ice Cream food truck will be there. Questions? Email recreation@millsriver.org

Paint for Paws @ Guidon Brewing Co. – Sunday, April 13th

Join for a paint and sip event to support Blue Ridge Humane Society. All proceeds of the paint and sip event and 10% of bar sales made during the event will go to the animals.

Hendo Earth Fest – Saturday, April 19th

10AM-3PM The purpose of the Hendo Earth Fest is to promote community education for all ages on environmental and sustainable practices, inspire action, and renew and expand commitments to protect our planet. Local and regional environmental allies focus on participation/hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to educate, renew and expand action to protect our Western North Carolina environment and natural resources.

Historic Church Tours – Third Saturday Each Month

Held on the third Saturdays of the month from March through December, tours of St. John in the Wilderness start inside the Carriage Door entrance of the Church promptly at 11AM and last about an hour. Additional tours are held seasonally on the first Saturday of the month from June through September. There will be no rain dates and participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes.

The tours are free but advance reservations must be made online through the church’s website, www.stjohnflatrock.org/tours. Space is limited for each tour.

Easter Weekend Celebration @ Trailside Brewery – Saturday, April 19th – Sunday, April 20th

Easter Brunch & Egg Hunt @ Horse Shoe Farm – Sunday, April 20th

11AM-3PM Celebrate with the whole family at The Horse Shoe Farm’s Silo Cookhouse this Easter with a delicious brunch buffet crafted from farm-fresh ingredients. Gather with your loved ones around the table and indulge in delightful Southern favorites, from honey roasted ham to house biscuits with savory jam and butter. Guests can build their own omelets at a bespoke station, select from an assortment of fresh salads, and enjoy tasty desserts like carrot cake cupcakes to get into the easter spirit. Blind Draw Cornhole Tournaments @ The Main Event – Weekly on Tuesdays
