Join for West Coast Swing on 1st & 3rd Wednesdays in a premier venue showcasing spacious dance floors, high ceilings, and a vintage vibe. If you are new to West Coast Swing, check out for yourself the popular dance style that can be done to a wide variety of music, including pop, country, blues, and contemporary. For those looking to advance their skills, the WNC WCS community is excited to offer classes taught by pro instructors! As always, the dress is casual and no partner is needed. Ride and Ticket to the Tourists Baseball Games – Varying Dates through August 28th

Join as we travel to McCormick Field for a fun fabulous time cheering on our hometown baseball team, The Asheville Tourists. Why hassle with parking when you can leave the driving to us? Park your car at the Hendersonville Welcome Center and take the air conditioned bus to McCormick Field in Asheville. Pick up time is 5pm. Cost is only $35.00 per person for a box seat and transportation.

NC Writers Network & The Brandy Bar: “In the Company of Writers” – Wednesday, May 14th

The program offers a series of personal and conversational dialogues featuring guest writers/poets followed by an open mic forum. These inspirational gatherings will elucidate and entertain those attending. The guest author speaks from 7-8 PM with an open mic from 8 -9 PM. The Chicago blues music of “Hollywood Johnny Cosgrove” (accompanied by Charlie Wilkinson) welcomes you, continues during intermission, and closes the evening. 2025 WNC Comic Con – Saturday, May 17th

Join on Saturday, May 17 at the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher, NC for WNC Comic Con!! This event will run from 10am to 5pm. Tickets will be available at the on the day of the event – $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for 13 & under, and free for 3 & under!!

Walking Tour and Wine Tasting at Marked Tree Vineyard – Weekly Fridays-Sundays

Get your steps in with a guided walking tour and tasting! Enjoy a seasonal wine tasting as you stroll through the vines and get an exclusive sneak peek of the new production facility. Learn about the history of Marked Tree and how the vineyard transforms with the changing seasons. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and we’ll provide the open vistas! The tour lasts about 30-45 minutes, a perfect way to start your day! (Weather permitting.)

Songs From the Road Band – Saturday, May 17th

Empty Bowls Fundraiser – Sunday May 18th

Still recovering from the aftermath of the devastating storm Helene, local ceramic artists will once again fire up their kilns for the eighth year to help hungry children in the greater Flat Rock area. On Sunday, May 18, 2025, “Empty Bowls,” a community meal benefiting the Flat Rock Backpack Program, will take place in the Parish Hall at the Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness.
Advance tickets are strongly recommended for the two seatings: 12:00pm-2:00pm and 4:00pm-6:00pm. Each ticket includes one hand-crafted bowl donated by area potters, a soup-based meal, with soups and breads donated by local restaurants and bakers, plus homemade cookies baked by church members. For those wishing to eat at home, take-away is an available option.
Tickets are $30 per person or $50 for a family of two adults and children under 12. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.stjohnflatrock.org/empty-bowls.

Blue Ghost Firefly Tours – Varying Dates through Saturday, June 7th

The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to a very unique creature that some say resembles a collection of fairies carrying blue candles through the forest.
The Blue Ghost Firefly (Phausis reticulata) is a secretive, hard-to-find native insect that calls our area home, and for a very short amount of time in late Spring, they inhabit our surrounding woodlands of Transylvania County.
You’ll experience an educational presentation at our outdoor amphitheater starting at 8:45 pm and then use the cover of darkness and special flashlights to go in search of the Blue Ghost fireflies while hiking on a paved trail through the forest.
