Embracing Fall in the Mountains – Asheville Events that Warm the Heart

The Glass Pumpkin Patch

Stop by to pick out your very own hand blown glass pumpkin from the carefully curated patch! This event occurs daily from September 4th to November 3rd starting at 10am in the North Carolina Glass Center and features local glass artists’ interpretation of a fall pumpkin patch! Stick around after your stroll to check out additional handmade fall items and all of the harvest fun. Every purchase helps support the non-profit North Carolina Glass Center, as well as 30+ local glass artists

UNC AVL Soccer Game

Come out to Greenwood Field on UNC Asheville’s campus to watch the Men’s Bulldogs take on East Tennessee State on September 24th! It is their Futbol and Flannels game so dress warm and come enjoy some soccer and s’mores! The UNC AVL Women’s Team is hosting Radford on October 2nd and spectators are encouraged to wear shades of pink to raise awareness for breast cancer. Both games are free to attend and will start at 6:00pm. 

Asheville Greek Festival

Since 1986, the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church has hosted the Asheville Greek Festival! People from all over have come to watch traditional Greek dancing, enjoy delicious food, listen to Greek music, and learn more about our heritage, culture, and traditions. In 2010, the event moved from downtown to our own location on Cumberland Ave in the Historic Montford District. Come out on September 27th and 28th from 11:00am to 9:00pm to experience all that Greek culture has to offer and allow yourself to have a lively, delicious, and relaxing time. You and your friends and family are hereby invited to the 2024 Asheville Greek Fest!

Vegan Fair!

The 4th Annual Vegan Fair offers a day filled with vibrant local vegan vendors, delicious plant-based food trucks, live music, and eco-friendly products at the Farm Shire Animal Sanctuary. Visitors can enjoy craft beers from the brewery, learn about sustainable living, and shop the goods from all our amazing participating sponsors. Sweeten Creek Brewing is hosting this event on September 28th from 1pm to 8pm. Participating sponsors include Mean Mandys, The Smokin Onion, Gallivant Coffee co., Well Seasoned Table, Moon & Back Bakery, Days Between Dyes, Dare Vegan Cheese, Back Porch Baking Co., Hemlock Point, Better Thymes, Sister Kitten, Beans Bonsai, Share the Moon Sanctuary, and Harmonize & Flow!

Asheville VeganFest

We’re excited to bring a VeganFest back to Asheville in 2024 and hope you’ll support our FREE festival by donating to our fundraiser. Located in Pack Square Park on October 6th, this vibrant festival runs from 11am till 6pm and is truly a special of fun! vEnjoy the Family Fun Zone, shopping, DJ and Emcee, and lots of incredible vegan food, free face painting, and more to Pack Square Park for our Fall Edition!! Wicked Weed Pridetoberfest

Join us for our Pridetoberfest celebration on September 28th from 12pm to 10pm! Admission to this event is free and is sponsored by Wicked Weed Brewing. The festivities kick off at the Brewpub (91 Biltmore Ave) from 12-4 PM with live music by Lagerhosen. Then, head over to the Funkatorium (147 Coxe Ave) from 5-10 PM for a live DJ set by DJ RexxStep. Enjoy live music, face painting, vendors, and more—all while supporting our friends at Campaign for Southern Equality. Don’t miss out!

North Asheville Tailgate Market

Western North Carolina’s oldest producer-only farmer’s market is something you shouldn’t miss! Start your Saturday morning off right at the North Asheville Tailgate Market with more than 60 vendors featuring fresh produce, baked goods, ready-to-eat food, artisan crafts, live music, and more. 

As a producer-only farmers’ market, their mission is to strengthen the local foods movement of Western North Carolina by organizing a dynamic and inclusive outlet for farmers and small businesses to connect with customers and community. Since 1980, we have been providing Asheville and the surrounding area with a full range of local, sustainably produced produce, meats, eggs, cheeses, breads, plants, prepared foods and crafts. Occurring weekly on Saturdays, you’ll find everything from food to gifts to music and coffee or tea starting at 8am. Make sure to get there early – the selection will blow your mind!

Barktoberfest

Grab your best bud for an afternoon of pup-loving fun! Dog owners are encouraged to bring their furbabies to this free event at the French Broad River Park on October 6th from 10am to 2pm. There will be lots of interactive activities for furry friends and canine contests that start at 1pm. Meet local pet vendors with special treats and stop by the dog-and-companion caricature portrait station. Dogs must remain on leash unless inside the dog park. If you’re a dog’s best friend, make sure you walk them down to this bark-tastic event!

Hola Asheville!

Mark your calendars, downtown Asheville comes alive with the sights, sounds, music, pageantry, colorful costumes and extraordinary talent of Latin America!  Hola Asheville will feature something for everyone, and patrons can journey through over 20 represented countries and experience their people, music, art, food and culture. This one-day outdoor festival in Pack Square Park happens on October 13th from 12pm to 9pm and admission is free! Experience the sights, sounds, music, pageantry, colorful costumes, and extraordinary talent representing 20+ countries. Come hungry for a huge variety of food, including Mexican, Peruvian and Venezuelan-inspired favorites. The stage will present a continuous schedule of dance and music with the rhythms of Salsa, Bachata, Zamba, Tropical, Tango and Merengue. This event is presented by Hola Carolina, who are a non-profit who aims to enhance the health and well-being of our community by fostering cultural connections, embracing diversity, and promoting economic vitality. Embrace culture and your neighbor while immersing yourself in a culinary, auditory and visual feast!
